Three-Band Detection
The 1216 frequency range is divided into 3 parts, each displayed on a separate scale: “VHF / UHF 50-700 MHz,” “mobile and wireless devices 700 MHz – 3 GHz,” and “Microwave (MW) and wireless devices 3-12 GHz”. Separate indication allows the operator to better understand the type of signal detected, simultaneously detect multiple signals, and conduct searches near sources of interference. While the overall sensitivity of a standard field indicator/RF detector drops near any interference, the iProtect 1216 reduces sensitivity only in one band and maintains high sensitivity in the others.
MW Band
The “MW band” of the iProtect 1216 covers frequencies 3-12 GHz. This band allows detection of Wi-Fi 5GHz and other wireless protocols operating at higher frequencies. Since MW frequencies are not detected by standard RF detectors, they are assumed to be more covert. The iProtect 1216 easily finds these signals. To reduce attenuation in wiring, the 1216 MW circuits are located directly in the microwave antenna housing.
Alarm
When searching, it is recommended to turn off all known safe radio devices, such as Wi-Fi access points, wireless devices, and mobile phones. However, interference may still originate from adjacent premises and cause false alarms. In this case, the Alarm function will help the operator eliminate background interference by adjusting the threshold. When the signal exceeds the threshold, the device generates a warning signal. The Alarm signal is also extremely convenient when searching in hard-to-reach places or when operating in “guard” mode. The alarm threshold has 48 adjustment steps.
Histogram
In the “ONE BAND” display mode, in addition to the indicator on the main display, the iProtect 1216 shows a histogram for the selected band. The histogram displays the history of the signal received over the last 5 seconds and is very informative when monitoring periodic signals or conducting a quick search.
Wi-Fi and 3G
Compared to conventional RF detectors, the iProtect 1216 has significantly greater sensitivity to 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth devices. This advantage was achieved using additional RF channels in the circuit that are responsible for specific frequency bands. Therefore, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a number of other wireless protocols operating in the 2.4/5 GHz bands are detected at an increased distance.
Signature
In addition to indicator display, the iProtect 1216 can identify some types of signals and display a corresponding message on the information screen. By analyzing the information processed by the receiving path, the 1216 identifies the following signals: DECT wireless device in “standby mode,” active DECT device, GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.
