The digital wired and telephone line analyzer TALAN version 3.0 is a professional device that allows inspecting wired lines for the presence of covert information gathering devices and information leakage. The Talan combines modern technical methods for checking wired and telephone lines and provides extended capabilities for analyzing analog, digital, and VoIP telephone systems.
Capabilities and Features
- Digital Demodulator
The TALAN wired line analyzer has a digital decoder for checking telephone lines for the presence of unauthorized audio signal (allows demodulating 80% of PBX/ACD PBXs used worldwide). This mode allows detecting covert information gathering in digital telephone systems (“police mode”) on digital PBX lines. - Reflectometer
The Frequency-Time Domain Reflectometer, unlike the traditional Time Domain Reflectometer, has no “blind” zones and features high resolution and excellent technical capabilities. It allows detecting line inhomogeneities (splices, taps, breaks, insulation condition) with distance determination. - Non-Linear Junction Locator with Handheld Probe
Allows detecting the presence of semiconductor (electronic) devices on the line and tracing the line path. For example: parallel pairs 4 and 5 show an excess in the second and third harmonics. - Automatic Switch
For identifying and testing all pair combinations when connecting a multi-wire line. - Digital Multimeter

The built-in wideband radio frequency detector allows detecting and localizing signals in the range up to 8 GHz. - Multi-Test System with Database for sequential execution of tests with all line pair combinations, saving results in a database for later comparison. Any test results can be recorded on external media, such as USB drives or Compact Flash cards.
- Handheld Search Probe
Allows tracing the line, and also receiving the second harmonic response, when using the non-linear locator mode, for localizing eavesdropping devices. - VOIP Traffic Analyzer
Voice over IP (VoIP) technology is used to transmit voice information over Ethernet/Internet networks. TALAN has the capability to track, accumulate, analyze, and decode VoIP traffic packets using a built-in network card and software. Packet decoding allows assessing the threat of illegal intrusion into the telephone system using acoustic coupling.
